The moment you step on property at the Polynesian Village Resort you are immediately immersed in tropical luxury. From the flowers and the waterfalls cascading over rocks at the front entrance, to the South Seas feeling inside the door of the Great Ceremonial House, it is beautiful. The attention to detail and perfection follows you into the lobby where the cast members are ready to get your vacation started with your own Hawaiian lei.
The Polynesian Village Resort is one of the two original resorts built on the Seven Seas Lagoon and is one of only three on the monorail route. The rooms are spacious and are divided into 11 longhouses and 20 newly opened Disney Vacation Club bungalows. We stayed in The Aotearoa longhouse which was a very short walk to the Great Ceremonial House and had a garden view with the monorail in the background.
There is a beautiful white sand beach along the waterfront with beach chairs and activities where you can see Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain across the water. The beach is a great place to watch Wishes while you wind down from a busy day. Lilo’s Playhouse is located to the right of the Great Ceremonial House and is the children’s activity center. The Polynesian Resort also has a marked running trail as well as a marina which provides boat rentals as well as service to and from the Magic Kingdom.
There are two pools at the Polynesian Resort; however the quiet pool is currently closed for refurbishment. Nanea Volcano pool is a wonderfully themed pool with a water slide right through the volcano as well as a waterfall to splash under. There is also a very fun looking play area for small children and a large hot tub for adults.
The Polynesian Village Resort has many dining options as well. Captain Cook’s, Kona Island, and the pool bar serve everything from burgers to fish tacos to sushi. The new Pineapple Lanai has the ever popular Dole Whip and ‘Ohana provides a lively character meal with Lilo and Stitch and friends.
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is the newest location and is wonderfully themed after the Jungle Cruise ride. It’s worth a trip to the Polynesian just to experience the staff and drinks available in this intimate and unique space.
The Polynesian Village Resort is a wonderful option while staying at Walt Disney World! The location cannot be beat and the tropical feeling submerges you into paradise with a hint of Disney flare.
