10 Disney Cruise Tips!

Thinking of taking a Disney cruise? Getting ready for your Disney cruise? Here are 10 tips to help make your cruise a more magical vacation!

1. Arrive the Day Before Your Ship is Set to Sail.

This takes the worry out of making it to the port on time and you get the best of both worlds; if you arrive two days early you can spend a couple days at Disney World before heading out to sea!

2. Stop and Smell the Roses

Once you are aboard, take time to go out on the deck and admire the fact that you are literally in the middle of the ocean. Breathe in the fresh air, sit back, and relax.

3.  Don’t Miss the Shows

I know I just said to make sure you sit back and relax on deck, but the stage shows and musicals on board the Disney Cruise Ships are AMAZING. Top notch, first class entertainment. They are some must sees!

4. Come Hungry

The food options are tremendous. If anyone says they are hungry after a Disney Cruise, I’m not sure where they were hiding. The three restaurants are not to be missed and the service is impeccable. After I mentioned my love of the Mickey ice cream bars to Roland, our server, he delivered a plate of them to our table every night for dessert. There are also quick-service restaurants open all day and into the night that serve all the basics… burgers, pizza, fries, wraps, ice cream, soft drinks, and more. Room service is also included, but please remember to tip. Mickey ice cream bars are also on that menu too! Everything is already included in the price of sailing, so seriously… eat up! Also, don’t miss out on the reservation only/adult only dining options. We had brunch at Palo and boy, was it worth every extra penny. Honestly, I didn’t think it was that expensive considering everything available and it was just a little treat we’re glad we decided to partake in!

5. Enjoy Your Day on Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay.

Run/walk the 5k if it’s available. Rent a cabana if you have the funds. Rent bikes and explore the island. Play in the beautiful water! There are so many options here and it’s unlike any other island you’ve been to because it’s completely Disney, and you know what that means – just a little more magic everywhere you go!

6. Book Princess Meet and Greets Before You Board

There are characters available for photos and autographs all day long (seriously, I was surprised how many characters we saw) but you can only meet the Disney princesses (this includes Anna and Elsa!) with a special ticket. Plan so your children are not disappointed.

7. Bring Your Pirate Gear.

Pirate night is so much fun and you can meet Captain Jack Sparrow! Disney also has the only fireworks at sea (weather permitting). So cool! Trust me, you don’t want to be the only one not dressed up for this fantastic themed night.

8. Bring magnets for your cabin door

Not only are they fun to look at while walking down the halls, but they will also help you find your cabin! The doors and hallways all look the same so bring some decorations from home to make it more personalized! Many people on Disney Cruises also participate in Fish Extender gift exchanges. Check back later for a Fish Extender Blog of its own!

9. Get a Passport

You don’t NEED one if your ship takes off and returns to the same US port, but better safe than sorry! If you have an emergency at a non-USA port, the only way you can fly home is with a passport.

10. Plan Ahead

Honestly, use a travel agent! Whether you are cruising for the first time or you have been on 100 before, why not trust an expert? We are here to help in all aspects of your trip and as you probably already know, our services are 100% free for you. Plus, think of all of the extra advice we can give you after these 10!
