Tri Circle D Ranch is a place for the young and young at heart to channel their inner cowboy and cowgirl! The ranch is a hidden gem at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and quite possibly my favorite place to be on Disney property. From pony rides, to meeting the cast horses in the draft barn, you're for sure to leave with hoof prints on your heart. And the best part? Entry is FREE! All you have to do is hop on a boat from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness and have a look around.
Exploring the Ranch
Take stroll through the ranch on one of your off days. You can walk through the draft barn and meet the majestic horses of Main Street U.S.A. and say hello to Cinderella's ponies. Sometimes you can even catch the blacksmith and watch him make horse shoes and affix them to the horses hooves, or watch as the ranch hands bathe the horses before they start their shifts. You can spend and much or as little time as you would like learning about the variety of breeds (Percherons, Belgians, Clydesdales, Quarter Horses, Shetland Ponies just to name a few) and uses for the animals here at the ranch.
Pony Rides
From 10am to 5pm, your youngin can take a ride on some of the happiest ponies on earth! To ride, children must be at least two years of age, under 80lbs, under 48in and be able to sit up and hold on by themselves. Helmets are provided at the ranch. There is an $8 dollar fee to partake in this activity and only cash is accepted. Reservations are not necessary. Parents or guardians will lead their little cowpoke around a marked trail. Afterwards they can say hello to Cinderella's ponies!
Trail Rides
Don't worry! The junior cowboys and cowgirls aren't the only ones that get to have fun with our four legged friends at the ranch. Guided trail rides are available by reservation for adults and children 9 and over. Guests must wear closed toed shoes, be over 48in and weigh under 250lbs. Whether this is your first or thousandth time in the saddle, hitting the trail is a great way to relax. Helmets are provided at the ranch. You are asked to arrive early for a safety briefing before the ride starts. Trail rides last 45 minutes. Now through September 30, 2017 they will cost $46—starting on October 1, 2017 rides will cost $55. Trail rides are located at the front of Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at the Trail Blaze Corral.
Wagon and Carriage Rides
If you're the type that would rather sit back and relax rather than saddle up, wagon and carriage rides are for you! Wagon rides are available on a first come first serve basis for $5 for children and $8 for ages 10 and up from 6pm-8:30pm. The wagon ride starts out side of Pioneer Hall and takes you on a 25 minute scenic trip through Fort Wilderness. Group wagon rides are available by reservation for $300/45 minutes for up to 35 guests. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you'd prefer something a little more private, carriage rides are available for $45/25 minutes at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and Port Orleans Resort. Reservations are recommended. During the holiday season, you can take a cozy sleigh ride that holds up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children. Holiday sleigh rides cost $79 and reservations are highly recommended.
All activities at the ranch happen daily, weather permitting. If you're a horse lover, you should definitely stop by and say howdy on your next adventure to Walt Disney World. Ask us for more information on making reservations on your next vacation. Happy Trails!!!
