Disney Cruise Line — A Double Dip!

 What Is a Double Dip?

As more people are sailing on Disney cruises I see the question "What is a double Dip?" come up more often. A “double dip” is DCL cruising lingo for two stops at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay (pronounced like “key”). On some Bahamian itineraries the ship will make two stops at the island giving you more time for running, biking, snorkeling, or just hanging out on the beach for a day.

I was on a double dip in June of 2017. The first day we used as a chance to just walk around the island. We checked out the sights, the stores, and spent some time sightseeing. Castaway Cay may be a small island but there is a lot to see! On the second stop, we made it a beach day and snorkeled and hung out in the Caribbean.

Castaway Cay has a lot to offer and being a private island with no other inhabitants or visitors other than the people on your cruise ship, there are so many things you can do and most people find that one day on the island isn't enough.

From bike rides around the island, to sand bikes on the beach and even a 5k race(complete with a finishers medal!), there are options to help you burn off all of those calories you'll be taking in on the ship.

If relaxing is more your thing, you can lounge on the beach or enjoy life in one of the cabanas Disney has available for rent. Kick back with a drink and enjoy the food options Disney includes on the island!

There are plenty of excursions to enjoy as well, like parasailing, snorkeling, swimming with sting rays, kayaking and fishing. All of this is in addition to the normal Disney fun like character meet and greets. With so much to do, a "Double Dip" cruise is the perfect way to double your fun on Castaway Cay!
