Looking to stay at on-site at Walt Disney World with more than 4 guests in one room? Disney’s Art of Animation Resort can be your perfect fit! This resort features One Bedroom Family Suites which you can choose the theme of Finding Nemo, Cars, or even the Lion King! There is also a section of Standard Little Mermaid Rooms that sleep up to four guests which is wildly popular. Today, I would like to talk to you all about the Lion King Suites!
My family and I had the pleasure of staying in one of the Lion King Suites in November 2017 and we fell in love with this resort! My children were 6 and 10 at the time of travel, perfect ages to enjoy all of the amenities here! Having the extra space as a family of 4 in a suite was perfect to let the kids have room for themselves. Landscape of Flavors, the main food court, has so many different options available all throughout the day. I always wanted to try something new but always ended up with some more of their delicious tacos!
There are two large buildings that consist of only Lion King Suites. While leaving the main building and exiting near the main pool, you will walk to the left to enter into the Pride Lands. The buildings are very easy to navigate around and the scenery really made you feel as though you were in the savanna. My kids loved to run around this area looking for lizards in hopes of catching one. Although unsuccessful, they had a lot of fun.
You will encounter many familiar characters and fun little play areas too!
This the only value resort that has enclosed, air-conditioned buildings, one of the many perks of this resort! However, the Little Mermaid buildings do not have the same layout. The hallways are adorable and in theme as well.
Right after you use your MagicBand to open your room door you will find yourself walking into the dining area first with a large table and 4 chairs. This is actually a double-size convertible Tablebed that can be pulled down fairly easily! There are cubby holes on the small tables close by to store items to keep the table cleared and pull down the bed. Staying at other resorts you only have a small table with two chairs, so this is such a nice upgrade!
Straight across from the table you will find the main bathroom. The sink area is split from the toilet and bath tub, which is nice for getting ready in the morning.
You will then find yourself into the Kitchenette equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, coffee, tea, plates, cups and even paper towels! There was plenty of storage for all of the snacks we brought along with us too. The fridge did keep our drinks very cold, however, we did not have the chance to use the microwave.
The living room does include a double-size sleeper sofa. I felt as though it was comfortable to sleep in, however, it is not a very thick mattress which may not work well for others. The living room had enough chairs for my whole family to sit and enough room for the kids to play.
Finally, you enter the master bedroom with one queen-size bed and a master bathroom attached to it. This bathroom features an enclosed glass shower with the toilet and sink in the same room. The bedroom does have a dresser with power outlets already equipped under the TV.
My family did have the opportunity to enjoy ourselves in the main pool, The Big Blue Pool. This pool is huge and does not make you feel as though you are too close to other guests, you will even be able to hear music from under the water! Another great perk of this resort is the Schoolyard Spray Ground, the splash pad area! This is great for little ones to run around and have fun without heading into the water. We spent most of our time here as the kids played and made the water fountains shoot water higher all around the splash pad. The Righteous Reef Playground may be small, but is adorable for the kids to explore.
A great new addition is the all new Disney Skyliner! Take a ride above the treetops and over lakes with this state-of-the-art gondola system which connects you to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and International Gateway at Epcot! You are able to also access Disney’s Boardwalk when stopping at International Gateway at Epcot. These gondolas feature iconic Disney characters, open-flow windows and twin wooden benches that accommodate up to 10 passengers per gondola! Participating resorts are Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort will be sharing a station due to their close proximity.
