The Grand Floridian resort is one of the first resorts to Grace Walt Disney World! And by grace I really mean it! The resort is not only elegant and regal but it has a certain fresh and whimsical feel as well! This Victorian themed luxury resort opened its doors in June of 1988 and has been a staple in the deluxe category since. The resort has any inspirations one of the most well known would be Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California. Both resorts have the same gabled red roofs that stand out beautifully against the white walls.
When you walk into the main building your breath is taken away with the large open five-story lobby. The decor is made up of gold and marble with Victorian seaside touches. During the day you can hear a pianist or in the evenings on the second floor there is an orchestra playing.
This resort also has a top shelf spa right on property where you can spend a relaxing afternoon receiving amazing services. Another unique feature of the Grand Floridian resort is that is has a pavilion/ chapel where people can have their wedding ceremonies!
Some of the best features of this resort are the dining options! Narcoosee’s is a waterfront restaurant serving freshly caught seafood overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon. Citricos has recently been re-themed with tributes to Mary Poppins. The Grand Floridian Cafe is open for all meals and has a Victorian manor themed dining experience serving American classic dishes. 1900 Park Fare offers tea parties or buffet style dining with character appearances (please refer to updates regarding character dining). Victoria and Albert’s is a fine dining experience with award winning cuisine. On top of all these amazing locations there is also some lounge options, quick service locations and pool dining services.
Another great feature of the Grand Floridian resort is the monorail track being available right at the resort. Guests can take the monorail to Magic Kingdom or to the Transportation and Ticket center and on to Epcot!
All these features are great, but the real magic is being able to see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom light up the sky right across the lagoon! Seeing the castle lit up at night emanates the pure magic of Walt Disney World!
