If you have never been to Disneyland let me tell you Downtown Disney District does not disappoint. Besides the multitude of different restaurants, there is so much more to do!
Let’s first discuss the many ways to get to Downtown Disney. For those that are driving the best place to self-park will be in the Simba parking lot off Disneyland Drive. There is a cost for parking at this location so make sure you look in the Disneyland App for the pricing as it can change.
If you are staying at one of the three Disney Resorts a short walk is all it is to get to the many entrances. Disney’s Paradise Pier is a short walk to one of the entrances, this would be the same entrance you would use if you’re a guest at Disneyland Hotel. Guests at The Grand Californian Hotel & Spa enter Downtown Disney District through an entrance from the hotel.
What is so amazing about the Downtown Disney District is that you can walk out of Downtown Disney District and enter either park, Disneyland or California Adventure! You can even catch the Monorail to Disneyland in Downtown Disney. Everything is so convenient!
Now that you have arrived at Downtown Disney and have gone through the security (bag checks and metal detectors) it is time to eat, drink, shop and play.
If you love to shop like me, Downtown Disney is the place to do this, and you can pretty much find something for everyone. They have the coolest Lego Store with large Lego statues out front. There was The Beast and Belle and Woody and Buzz. For those that love the Disney Home line, there is a store just for that. Want some jewelry check out Pandora. Finally, get all your Disney souvenirs, clothing, etc. at the World of Disney!
My family is in love with Disney treats so Marceline’s Confectionery is the perfect place to get your Disney Popcorn, cupcakes, candied apples, lollipops and so many more sweet treats to take home with you and even to snack on while you walk around or eat later in your room.
Probably my favorite part of Downtown Disney was the activities that they had just around the area and some were FREE! They had the cutest little craft area for little kids or big kids like me to rest their feet in the shade and make crafts. Each month they do something different, this September the crafts were related to Hispanic Heritage Month. It was the perfect chance to slow down and let your little crafters get creative. They also have a stage where live bands will play and there is even a bowling alley, Splitsville Luxury Lanes, for those days that you just want to go a little slower or take a break from the parks.
Downtown Disney District at Disneyland California is place for everyone and is FREE to enter, no ticket required! So, for your next trip consider Disneyland California and take advantage of the Downtown Disney District!
