Port Canaveral Welcomes Celebrity Cruises!

Celebrity Cruises, one of the world’s most renowned elevated cruise lines now sails from Port Canaveral, offering travelers a new gateway to luxury vacations at sea!  The arrival of Celebrity Equinox in December brings Celebrity’s signature blend of award-winning dining, world-class service and modern luxury to one of Florida’s most accessible and convenient cruise ports.

To celebrate the ship’s arrival, a traditional ”Plaques and Keys” exchange ceremony was held on board, and Marvelous Mouse Travels was in attendance for this momentous event. Participating in the ceremony were Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Fritz VanVolkenburg, Port Canaveral Director and CEO John Murray, Celebrity Equinox Captain Nikolaos Frantzis, and Celebrity Cruises Vice President of Sales, Jennifer Suarez.

The Celebrity Equinox is a premium cruise ship that is part of the renowned Solstice Class of the fleet operated by Celebrity Cruises.  Launched in 2009, it offers an upscale cruising experience with modern amenities and innovative design and exciting features.  The ship will sail from Port Canaveral on itineraries to destinations such as the Bahamas, Eastern and Western Caribbean, Belize and more.

There are a variety of special offerings on Celebrity Equinox.  The Solarium is an adults-only, tranquil pool area with a retractable roof.  The Spa aboard the Celebrity Equinox offers a luxurious and rejuvenating experience, designed to help guests relax, recharge, and indulge in a wide range of wellness treatments. Broadway-style productions, live music and comedy shows are offered in the expansive theater.  The Lawn Club, a real-grass lawn on the top deck for outdoor relaxation and games, such as bocce and golf putting.  There are also exclusive areas for younger travelers, such as Camp at Sea and X-Club, the teens-only lounge.


Most unique of all on this ship is the glass blowing experience aboard the Celebrity Equinox which is an interactive activity that offers guests the opportunity to observe and participate in the art of glassblowing. This experience is hosted at the Hot Glass Show, a partnership between Celebrity Cruises and the Corning Museum of Glass, bringing the craftsmanship of glassmaking to sea. The Hot Glass Show studio is set up to provide a safe and interactive environment for guests to learn about and watch professional glassblowers at work. Expert glassblowers demonstrate their skills, creating beautiful glass pieces in real-time. Guests can watch them craft intricate, colorful glass sculptures, vessels, and other artistic items.  Some guests may have the opportunity to try their hand at creating their own glass art under the guidance of the professionals. While not everyone can participate in making a full piece, there are chances to interact and help with simple tasks, such as shaping the glass or adding color.  Guests can often purchase the glass art pieces created during the Hot Glass Show, making it a truly personal souvenir from their cruise.  Hot Glass Studio certainly is memorable way to spend time at sea, whether you’re watching or participating!

Celebrity Equinox boasts a variety of world-class dining venues. There is a main dining room, Silhouette, which offers contemporary dishes in an elegant setting. There are specialty restaurants that include options such as Tuscan Grill, an Italian Steakhouse, Murano, a French fine-dining experience and Silk Harvest, serving Asian-inspired cuisine.  Of course there are other options such as Oceanview Café, a casual buffet-style venue with global cuisine and a number of bars and lounges located around the ship.

Celebrity Equinox features a range of stylish staterooms and suites, including Interior Cabins that are modern and comfortable for budget-conscious travelers, Oceanview and Veranda Staterooms offering floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies, as well as Suites, which are spacious accommodations with luxury perks, including butler service in the Retreat area.  The Retreat also offers private lounges, restaurants and personal concierge services.
