A Glamorous Evening at 1923

While enjoying Rotational Dining aboard the Disney Destiny, there is a restaurant that transports you to a magical time in Disney history, the very beginnings of animation and the early magic of Disney. That restaurant is 1923. It is the most elegant and glamorous of the rotational dining restaurants, but do not worry, you do not need to be dressed to the nines to enjoy it.

The restaurant is split into two sides, each dedicated to Disney’s founding brothers, Walt and Roy Disney. Everywhere you look there is something to admire: original show and movie art, mini models used in production, and nods to timeless classics as well as more recent favorites.

Explore the Restaurant

One of the best parts of 1923 is that you can explore it even when dining is not taking place. Walking around at your own pace allows you to take in all the details, the art, the decor, the nods to Disney history, that you might miss during dinner. While sitting at your table, only a fraction of the restaurant is visible, so I highly recommend taking a daytime stroll to soak it all in.

A Delicious Dining Experience

As with all Disney Cruise Line dining, soft drinks are included and are often waiting at your table when you arrive for your assigned dinner time.

For my meal, I started with the Burrata Mozzarella Cheese and Prosciutto di Parma, which was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I went with the classic 1923 Peppered Filet Mignon, cooked to perfection.

Dessert was just as exciting. I sampled a few options:

  • Churro Bites – a consistent favorite
  • Hollywood Hills Hot Chocolate Fudge Sundae – rich and indulgent
  • Burbank Blueberry Lemon Bavarian Cream – the signature dessert and my personal favorite
While the churros are always a hit, the Bavarian Cream really stole the show for me.

Exceptional Service

The dining staff at 1923 are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. They go above and beyond to make your experience as magical as possible, anticipating your needs and adding little touches that make the evening unforgettable.

Final Thoughts

1923 is a truly wonderful experience and one of my personal favorites aboard Disney Cruise Line. Between the art and animation, the Old Hollywood vibes, and the magical Disney touches, this restaurant is a must visit. If you ever cruise with Disney, be sure to travel back to 1923, you will not regret it.
