Immersive New Character Interactions Aboard the Disney Destiny

One of the most exciting additions to the brand-new Disney Destiny isn’t just the stunning design, the entertainment, or even the food—it’s the completely reimagined way guests get to interact with beloved Disney characters. These aren’t your typical meet-and-greets. Instead, the Destiny debuts intimate, story-driven character “experiences” that blur the line between show and interaction, pulling guests directly into the narrative in ways we haven’t seen on any other Disney ship.

During my sailing, I had the chance to attend several of these offerings, each one totally unique. One of the most memorable was Dr. Facilier’s Parlor, an exclusive invitation-only encounter where just a dozen guests are welcomed behind the beaded curtain into the Shadow Man’s mysterious space. While I won’t spoil the surprise, I will say that it involves a bit of magic, a bit of mischief, and a whole lot of theatrical flair—an experience that feels handcrafted for the Destiny.

Then there’s Cruella de Vil, who may as well be the ship’s unofficial fashion director. Not only does she host a bold, over-the-top fashion show right in the Grand Hall, but she also leads a hilarious and interactive “Treble-Maker” songwriting session inside De Vil’s. Whether she’s critiquing your lyrical ideas or commanding the runway, Cruella brings a chaotic charm that makes her encounters unforgettable.

Of course, Loki can’t resist stirring up trouble, and his influence spreads throughout the voyage. When the Grand Hall suddenly glows a mischievous shade of green, you know the God of Mischief is asserting his claim over the Destiny. It’s dramatic, unexpected, and pure Loki energy.

A newer offering—and one that left a huge impression—is Maleficent: Under Her Spell. When the Mistress of All Evil arrives, she brings an atmosphere that’s both enchanting and powerful. Guests are drawn into her world as she casts her influence across the venue, creating an experience that feels theatrical, immersive, and beautifully ominous. It’s a standout interaction that showcases just how ambitious the Destiny’s entertainment really is.
