Free Specialty Dining on Carnival Excel Class Ships: Chibang & Cucina del Capitano Explained

Did you know that you can dine at two specialty restaurants for free on Carnival’s Excel Class ships - Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Jubilee? Your first meal at Chibang and Cucina del Capitano is included on your first visit! If you fall in love with the food, and you will, each additional visit is only $8 per person. This is a great perk and a fun way to shake up your typical dinner in one of the main dining rooms onboard! Working with one of our trusted travel agents ensures that you know about perks like these before you even step on the ship!

Chibang is a fusion of Chinese and Mexican cuisine. They have brought favorite dishes from both cultures together! You can choose appetizers, main courses, and side dishes from both the Chinese and Mexican sections of the menu in addition to the Steakhouse Selections section and dessert section.

Appetizers include egg drop soup, pot stickers, and spring rolls for the Chinese menu and queso fundido, a quesadilla, and carnitas tacos on the Mexican side. Entrees feature beef and broccoli, sweet and sour shrimp, and kung pao chicken from the Chinese selections and steak ranchero, camarones diablo, and pollo en mole from the Mexican selections. The Steakhouse Selections menu comes at an upcharge of $25 per entree and includes delicious options like surf and turf, filet mignon, and a wagyu cheeseburger! Desserts include chocolate “c-bang”, coconut tea tres leches, and crema catalana to end your meal on a delicious note!

Chibang means “wing” in Mandarin and this restaurant invites you to stretch your culinary wings by infusing both Chinese and Mexican flavors into your dinner!

Cucina del Capitano offers warm, comforting Italian dishes that we all know and love! The lineup includes antipasti, entrees, sides, and desserts along with another optional Steakhouse Selections menu offered for an upcharge.

Appetizers include arancini, Nonna’s meatballs, fritto misto, and caprese. Entrees highlight different meats and pastas such as spaghetti carbonara, grilled fish, chicken parmesan, and short ribs. Guests can also choose from the Steakhouse Selections menu for an additional charge of $25 per entree, just like at Chibang, and offers the same delicious selections! Desserts feature apple crostata, tiramisu, and babà napoletano, and of course there is a selection of coffees to enjoy with your dessert!

These classic Italian dishes are elevated to make for a delicious, comforting dinner that makes you feel at home, even in the middle of the ocean!

Both restaurants are also open for lunch on sea days at no extra cost! There is a different, more limited menu offered for lunch, but it is another delicious option.

To dine at either restaurant for dinner, you can make a reservation once you are onboard if you have Your Time Dining, check in starting at 7:45 pm the night you would like to go if you have assigned dining, or go to the restaurant when you are ready to dine to join the walk-up waitlist. Our knowledgeable vacation planners can guide you through all of these details to ensure your trip is seamless and stress-free!

We highly recommend trying both of these specialty restaurants next time you are on a Carnival cruise! It’ll be even better if you are on a Carnival Excel Class ship so you can enjoy your first visit to each restaurant for free during your sailing!
