There are a lot of things that make a cruise feel special, but sailing on Celebrity Ascent feels different the moment you step onboard. It’s one of those ships where the thoughtful details—like the incredible art around every corner—become part of the experience in a way you don’t fully expect until you’re there—and exactly the kind of detail a knowledgeable travel agent helps you discover ahead of time.
This ship is truly a floating gallery. Around every corner, down every hallway, and across every deck, there’s something beautiful, unexpected, and thoughtfully placed.
One of my favorite things about Ascent is how intentional the art feels. It’s not just a few statement pieces here and there to fill space—it’s everywhere and completely shapes the atmosphere of the ship. You notice it when you’re wandering the halls, heading to dinner, or just exploring with no real plan (which, honestly, is the best way to experience it).
It’s one of those things you don’t realize will impact your experience but every corner of the ship feels a little different, a little more elevated.
Out of everything I saw, Aurora was hands-down my favorite. This isn’t just something you look at—it’s something you walk through. Created by artist Fredrikson Stallard, Aurora is an immersive installation filled with chrome, mirrors, light, and movement. As you step inside, everything reflects and shifts around you, creating this almost dreamlike environment. It’s inspired by the northern lights, and you truly feel like you’re inside something otherworldly. It’s one of those moments onboard where you stop, slow down, and just take it in—the kind of experience a great vacation planner knows to point out so you don’t miss it!
In addition to the art throughout the common areas, the stateroom decks are designed with intention. Each deck has its own theme, which I thought was such a unique touch. On Deck 6 (where I stayed), the theme was Africa—a showcase of portraits and photography by various artists which capture the vibrancy and diversity of the entire African continent. The collection featured bold, vibrant portraits, wildlife imagery and cultural storytelling through photography. It made something as simple as walking to your room feel like a curated art gallery walk.
There were so many pieces that caught my eye, and I loved how varied the collection is throughout the ship. A few that stood out:
Even outdoor spaces didn’t miss the mark—like the geometric “Bear and Ballerina” sculpture by Ben Foster on the pool deck, which adds such a fun, unexpected moment overlooking the ocean.
Or, one of the most eye-catching pieces on the pool deck aboard the Celebrity Ascent is the striking octopus sculpture by Todd Lyndon Stuart. By day, it’s a bold and playful piece set against the open ocean, but in the evenings, it completely transforms. As the deck lighting comes on, the octopus seems to glow, almost coming to life with a soft, ambient illumination that reflects beautifully off the surrounding surfaces.
The art collection on Celebrity Ascent is something you don’t just pass by—you experience it. It adds depth, personality, and this sense that every detail onboard was thoughtfully curated. This is truly unlike any other ship at sea.
One of the biggest advantages of working with a travel agent is having someone who understands the full experience beyond just the booking. Ships like Celebrity Ascent are filled with thoughtful details—from immersive art installations to curated design elements—that can easily be overlooked without the right guidance. A travel advisor helps match travelers with the right cruise line, ship, and itinerary based on their preferences, while also sharing insider insight on what makes each experience unique.
If you’re someone who appreciates design, creativity, or just loves discovering something new at every turn, this ship is going to feel really special. It truly gives you a reason to explore every area onboard – and to maybe take the long way back to your room. There’s going to be something beautiful waiting around every corner.
The Celebrity Ascent art collection is just one of the reasons this ship has to be experienced in person. Contact All In Vacay today and let's start planning your voyage.
